I was always self conscious about the appearance of my teeth and thought being 29 was too old to get braces. I was wrong. The friendly staff at Kevin O’Regan’s surgery made me feel so comfortable and relaxed and assured me I would be happy with the end result, which I was. It was the best decision I ever made and has given me so much confidenceG C - Insurance administrator - Athlone
Jaw surgery corrects the bite problem and improves the facial structures. Normally braces are on for approximately 12 months and then the surgery is carried out by a maxillofacial surgeon. Surgical cuts allow the jaws to be moved into the ideal position and then braces are adjusted for another 9 months approximately to give a beautiful dental and facial result. The hospital stay is usually a few days and then you wear elastics holding the jaws in position for 6 weeks while everything heals. Braces then continue for a few months after the surgery to “detail” the occlusion.
